Chicago Stars FC News Release
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Red Stars will look to replicate their best performance of the season Sunday when they host a 3 pm Father's Day matinee with the Boston Breakers at TOYOTA PARK.
The Red Stars crushed Boston, 4-0, on April 25th, in the process setting a Women's Professional Soccer record for goals in a game that is yet to be surpassed.
Chicago (2-4-5) has not won a game since, a streak that reached seven matches with a 1-0 loss at Sky Blue FC Wednesday.
Sunday's game will be webcast on chicagoredstars.com, with both English and Spanish language audio feeds available. The voices of the Red Stars, Dean Linke and Jorge Trujillo, will handle play-by-play duties for the respective languages. The match will be the first in WPS history to be webcast in two languages simultaneously.
Boston (3-4-3) features one of the most dangerous attackers in the league in forward Kelly Smith. The former Arsenal Ladies player is second in WPS with five goals on the season. U.S. Women's National Team members Kristine Lilly and Heather Mitts are also on the Breakers' roster.
Mitts will join Red Stars midfielder Carli Lloyd for a special appearance at ESPN Zone Chicago on Saturday, June 20, from 7-8 pm. Fans are encouraged to come out to meet the two U.S. Women's National Team players and get autographs from each.
Pregame festivities Sunday include a special Father's Day car show in the TOYOTA PARK parking lot beginning at 1 pm. Family four packs are available for the match, featuring four tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks and starting at just $64. Be among the first 50 to purchase a four pack and receive a free Kristine Lilly bobble head! Four packs purchased in Premier and Midfield seating sections also include a family photo taken on the sidelines following the game. Tickets are available by calling (866) WPS-2009 or logging on to www.chicagoredstars.com.
