Houston Aeros sign goaltender Munce, reassigned left wing Olvecky

HOUSTON, Texas - Houston Aeros General Manager Tom Lynn today announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed goaltender Ryan Munce to a professional tryout (PTO) contract. The Minnesota Wild has reassigned left wing Peter Olvecky to the Aeros. Both Munce and Olvecky (pictured) will join the Aeros in Peoria for Game 1 of the West Division Semifinals against the Rivermen today.

Olvecky, 23 (10/11/85), tallied seven points (2 goals, 5 assists) in 31 games with Minnesota on his first NHL call-up. He has posted 23 points (6-17=23) in 41 games with the Aeros earlier this season. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Trencin, Slovakia, is in his fourth season with Houston, totaling 115 points (49-66=115) and 171 penalty minutes in 239 games. Olvecky was the Wild's third-round pick (No. 78 overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He was originally recalled on January 18 and will wear #16 with the Aeros.

Munce, 23 (4/16/85), played 54 games with the Mississippi Sea Wolves this season tallying a 24-24-5 record with a 3.21 goals against average (GAA) and a .915 save percentage (SV%). The 6-foot-2, 185-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario also played three games with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL this season with a 2.99 GAA and a .911 SV%. The right-hander was originally selected by the Los Angeles Kings in round 3 (No. 82 overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
