Stampede return home this weekend

After a five game road trip, the Stampede return to the Sioux Falls Arena on Friday for the first of three straight games at home. The Stampede will play host to West Division rival Fargo on Friday and Green Bay on Saturday. Game times are 7:05 PM each night.

The Force have won four straight games and are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games and now just four points behind Omaha for second place. Fargo swept East Division leading Green Bay over the weekend. The Stampede are 3-3-0 against the Force on the season.

On Saturday, the Stampede host Green bay for the final time this season. The Gamblers are coming off two losses to Fargo over the weekend, ending their USHL best 12-game winning streak. The Gamblers boast an impressive 26-9-2 record. Green Bay went just 13-41-6 a year ago.

STAMPEDE PLAYER CARD

GIVEAWAY FRIDAY NIGHT-

The fourth and final set of Stampede player cards presented by Mueller Pallets and KWSN-AM Radio will take place this Friday night when the Stampede host the Fargo Force at 7:05 PM. Be among the first 1,500 fans through the doors and receive the final set of six (6) Stampede player cards.

The 2nd annual Sioux Nation Pet Clinic "Wiener Dog Race" with the Stampede will take place this Saturday when the Stampede host Green Bay at 7:05 PM. The dogs will race on arena ice during the first intermission!

Dog fans can purchase individual tickets for $11.50 each with $3.00 from each ticket going to Dakota Dachshund Rescue. Contact Jim Olander by email (see above for more information).

In addition, SMG is donating $1 from every Foot Long Hot Dog purchased at the Stampede game on Saturday to Dakota Dachshund Rescue!

INSIDE STAMPEDE HOCKEY LIVE FROM

SIOUX NATION PET CLINIC-

Inside Stampede Hockey will be broadcasting "live" from Sioux Nation Pet Clinic today from 5-6 PM in preparation for the "Wiener Dog Race." Join Jim Olander and Stampede head coach Kevin Hartzell as they talk about the latest Stampede news.

Sioux Nation Pet Clinic will be holding a Walk-in Shot Clinic from 5-8 PM for cats and dogs. Fans who take part in the shot clinic will receive two (2) free Stampede tickets to an upcoming home game!

Fans can also register for a chance to win free dog food and sign up to purchase tickets to Saturday's game which benefits Dakota Dachshund Rescue.

In addition, Dakota Dachshund Rescue will be on hand with some adoptable dogs throughout the night.

VITALE/NORTHEASTERN PLAY FOR BEANPOT TITLE TONIGHT-

Former Stampede forward Joe Vitale (2004-05)and the Northeastern Huskies square off against Boston University, the country's #1 team, tonight in the championship game of the 57th annual Beanpot Tournament in Boston, MA.

The Beanpot is an annual tournament held between Boston College, Boston University, Harvard and Northeastern.

Vitale, Northeastern's senior captain, is third on the team in scoring with 20 points (5g, 15a) in 26 games this season. Northeastern is 19-6-2 on the season and in first place in Hockey East.

It was announced last week that Vitale is one of 16 finalists for the 2009 Walter Brown Award which is given annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England.

VANEK OUT 3-4 WEEKS WITH FRACTURED JAW-

Former Stampede star Thomas Vanek (1999-2002) is out 3-4 weeks with a fractured jaw suffered Saturday night versus Ottawa. Vanek was hit in the face with the puck during the game and had successful surgery on his jaw yesterday (Sunday).

Vanek leads the Sabres in points (52) and goals (32) in 54 games this season. The Sabres are 28-20-4 on the season and in third place in the Northeast Division.
