RailHawks Bring Back 2008 Team MVP Matt Watson

Cary, NC (Monday, February 02, 2009) - The Carolina RailHawks announced today that 2008 RailHawks MVP Matt Watson will return to WakeMed Soccer Park for the 2009 season pending League and USSF approval. Watson is currently in Maryland playing with the Baltimore Blast of the NISL and will join the RailHawks as soon as his season in Maryland ends. He could be back as early as Saturday, March 14, for the "Community Shield" match against the New England Revolution .

"I am extremely excited to return to the RailHawks," said midfielder Matt Watson. "I had some great conversations with Coach Rennie and wanted to be a part of what he is trying to build here. I also wanted to return to one of the greatest facilities with the greatest fans in the League."

"From all of the analysis and research I did on last year's team, I knew Watson was a player I definitely wanted back," said RailHawks Head Coach Martin Rennie. "I am really excited he will be returning and look forward to working with him and to watch him play."

Watson was an integral part of the RailHawks the 2008 season. He scored one goal and recorded four assists while keeping the fans on the edge of their seats with his creative dribbling and ball control. He was named to the USL Team of the Week three times as well as being honored on the USL All-League Second Team.
