
The Chicago Steel Fall To Des Moines In Overtime

Bensenville, IL (January 30, 2008) -The Chicago Steel started off the first of their seven game road trip with a gut-wrenching overtime loss to the Des Moines Buccaneers at the Buccaneer Arena.
After a scoreless first period, the Steel got a quick goal from Andrew Miller just seconds into the second period with assists coming from Mark Anthoine and Philip Samuelsson. The scoring was a back and forth battle from then on out in the second period. Des Moines' got a goal from Josh Balch with assists from J.P. Burkemper and Nick Pryor mid-way through the frame to tie the score up at 1-1.
Chicago was quick to fight back, taking the lead 2-1 with a goal from Max Nicastro just a minute later, the assist coming from Andrew Miller. Des Moines ended the scoring in the second period with a goal coming from Rocco Carzo on the powerplay. Ryan Walters and Aaron Crandall were credited for the assists on the play for Des Moines.
Although the competition was high in the third period, the scoring was not, with another scoreless period for both teams, which made it tied 2-2 heading into overtime.
Des Moines received the game-winning goal from Andrew Himelson, the assist from H.T. Lenz two minutes into period to end the scoring at 3-2.
The Chicago Steel, 18-17-2, play tonight in Cedar Rapids at 7:00 p.m. You can watch the Steel take on the RoughRiders by tuning into the B2 network.
