Jr. Blues Forward Trent Frey Committs to Div. I Mercy Hurst College

Springfield Jr. Blues forward Trent Frey has accepted a scholorship offer from Division I Mercy Hurst College in Erie, PA for the 2010-2011 season. Frey, the Blues leading scorer, was scouted by Mercy Hurst coach Rick Gotkin at the Top Prospects Tournament held in Ann Arbor, Michigan. With over 80 payers attending the tournament, Frey was the only player Gotkin was interested in. Trent resides in Rochester, Minnesota and is the son of Tim & Kerrin Frey. "I'm very excited to play college hockey at Mercy Hurst", says Trent. "The scholorship will will be a tremendous financial help to my parents, who have been so supportive of me", he added. Trent's mother, Kerrin, was equa! lly happy to hear the news. "We are all so excited-what a fabulous offer", she said. "We can't begin to tell you how much Trent loves playing for the Springfield Jr. Blues. Thank you!", she added.
Frey will return to the Blues next season to continue his development and get ready for the very competitive environment of Division I hockey. He will join Blues defenseman Randy Cure, who will be heading to Mercy Hurst after this season. This was the second scholorship offer Frey recieved. He turned down an offer from Bentley College a few weeks ago as he didn't see it as a good fit. "That was a tough decision, but my parents totally supported me. It has really worked out well here", said Frey. The Blues head to N. Iowa this weekend for two games with the Outlaws and will be back at the Nelson Center to take on the Topeka Roadrunners on February 6th & 7th.
