Erie Otters News Release
The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League travel to Owen Sound this weekend for a pair of key Western Conference games against the Attack.
The two teams meet in Owen Sound Friday and Saturday. Both games can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m.
The Otters (20-18-2-0) and the Attack (15-16-5-3) are separated by just four points in the race for playoff positioning in the Conference. Erie heads into weekend action holding down the fifth seed while Owen Sound sits eighth.
The Otters enter the weekend set coming off a 6-3 loss to the London Knights on Wednesday at the Tullio Arena. The loss ended an Otters six-game winning streak. Ryan O'Reilly collected a pair of assists in the game to extend his point-scoring streak to six games (3-8-11), which is tied for the longest by a member of the Otters this season. The 17 year-old forward is now tied for team scoring with seven goals and 31 assists for 38 points in 40 games.
Owen Sound was also in action on home ice Wednesday night as they saw a three-goal second period lead disappear in an eventual 6-5 overtime loss to the Guelph Storm. The loss was the Attack's four straight on home ice.
Second-year forward Joey Hishon leads the Attack in scoring with 21 goals and 25 assists for 46 points in 38 games.
The pair of weekend games will mark the fourth and fifth between the two teams this season. Owen Sound holds a 2-1 advantage in the six-game season series.
The next Otters home games take place Friday, January 16th and Saturday, January 17th when the Niagara IceDogs and Sarnia Sting visit for 7 p.m. starts respectively. Business Records Management sponsors Friday's game against the IceDogs. Fans who bring documents to be securely shredded will receive a buy-one, get-one free ticket coupon for that night's game. Saturday is NASCAR Night presented by Sports Obsession.
Tickets for both games are available at all Erie-area Ticketmaster locations, the Civic Center Box Office, on line at www.ottershockey.com or by calling 814-452-4857.
