Brown Leads Reno to Showcase Win

Orem, Utah, Jan. 7, 2009 - Damone Brown notched his fifth double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Reno Bighorns to a 113-109 victory over the Dakota Wizards Wednesday as part of the NBA Development Showcase being played at the McKay Events Center.

The victory was the third straight for Reno and improved the Bighorns to 4-12. Dakota dipped to 10-8 and had a modest two-game win streak snapped.

"This was a big win for us. We have had a lot of close losses, but we are on a little winning streak now," Brown said. "It's good for us to come out and play together and get a couple of victories."

Antonio Meeking scored 21 points to lead Reno scoring, while Dave Noel contributed 20, Patrick Ewing, Jr. 14 and Daryl Dorsey 13 to complete double figure scoring for the Bighorns.

Blake Ahearn had 25 points for Dakota to lead all scorers, including making 11-of-11 free throw attempts. Renaldo Major had 22 for the Wizards, converting 10-of-14 from the floor. Maurice Baker scored 17 for Dakota, followed by Jawann McClellan with 12. Will Frisby recorded his third double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.

Reno returns home to host Bakersfield on Saturday. Dakota visits rival Sioux Falls in the first of a two-game weekend series with the Skyforce on Friday.

The Showcase concludes Thursday with four games beginning at 11 a.m.
