LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Many staples of the BlueClaws group theme night schedule are back with several new options added for 2009.

Always a popular feature each year, the BlueClaws have a special theme for most home games designed to add a unique feel to a game at FirstEnergy Park.

"We try to make each BlueClaws game a little different than the one before," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "We feel we've accomplished that here while at the same time providing a great night at the ballpark for so many different people in the area."

Core theme nights back for 2009 include Firefighter Night (June 27th), American Legion Night (August 7th), and Irish Heritage Night (August 8th). The BlueClaws will also host theme nights geared directly toward communities in the area: Brick (May 10th), Jackson (June 10th), Howell (June 11th), Toms River (June 19th), and Lakewood (June 20th).

On an educational side, the BlueClaws honor the area's Most Improved Students on April 20th, 22nd, and 23rd. Teacher Appreciation Night falls on May 22nd, and Education Days fall during the BlueClaws weekday morning games in May (6th and 27th).

New events for 2009 include Adult Softball League Night (June 11th), where teams can take part in a post- game Home Run Derby, and Positive Coaches Alliance Night (July 2nd), on which coaches who have positively impacted young athletes will be honored.
