
IHL Monthly Honors For November

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Kalamazoo right wing Mark Nebus has been named the Pepsi IHL Player of the Month, Port Huron goaltender Kevin Desfosses has been named the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Month, and Kalamazoo goaltender Jason Tapp has been named the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Month for November.
Nebus posted a total of 15 points during the month of November, scoring nine goals and dishing out six assists and had a plus-14 in twelve games played. He recorded his first professional hat trick November 23rd in his league-high five goal game versus Port Huron. The 26-year-old South Lyon, Michigan native currently leads the IHL in plus/minus rating with a plus-13. He is currently tied for the team lead in goals with teammate Lucas Drake, each notching in 11 on the season. Nebus had a five-game point streak as well as a four-game goal streak during the month of November.
Other players nominated for the Pepsi IHL Player of the Month include: Bloomington forward Brett Holmberg, Flint forward Steve Rymsha, Fort Wayne left wing P.C. Drouin, Muskegon center Todd Robinson and Port Huron center Nick Lindberg.
Desfosses kicked off the first full month of his rookie season earning a 4-2-0-0 record, playing just over 364 minutes. He had a 2.47 goals against average for the month, earning a total of 160 saves on 175 shots faced, giving him a .914 save percentage for the month of November. Desfosses earned his first professional win on November 7th then followed it up the next night with his first professional shut out, blanking Kalamazoo on all 29 shots. He also shut out Fort Wayne in a 1-0 win on November 21st, making 28 saves on the Komets. The 21-year-old Beauport, Quebec native currently leads IHL goaltenders in goals against average (2.55) and save percentage (.908).
Other players nominated for the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Month include: Bloomington forward Adam Tomkow, Flint defenseman Kyle Deck, Fort Wayne center Rick Varone, Kalamazoo right wing Rick Cleaver and Muskegon center Maxime Lincourt.
Tapp wrapped up the month of November with an 8-1-0-0 record. He stopped a total of 283 shots for the month, giving him a .928 save percentage. He has won seven straight contests, winning eight of his nine starts in the month, giving up only 22 goals against for a 2.45 goals against average for November. The 30-year-old Kelowna, British Columbia native posted the league's third shutout of the season versus Bloomington on November 21st. Tapp, who currently leads IHL goaltenders in minutes played (837:45), appeared in nine games for just over 539 minutes. He is second among goaltenders in wins (9) and goals against average (3.01).
Other players nominated for the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Month include: Bloomington's Scott Fankhouser, Flint's Chad Alban, Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher, Muskegon's Isaac Reichmuth and Port Huron's Larry Sterling.
