FRIDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Friday's games
Courtney Sims notched an opening-night triple-double with 22 points, 17 rebounds and 11 blocks as the Energy coasted past the Skyforce, 113-101. Curtis Stinson led with 27 points, seven rebounds and a game-high eight assists.
Golden State Warriors assignees Richard Hendrix and DeMarcus Nelson led the way for Bakersfield as Hendrix scored a game-high 31 points and 14 rebounds, and Nelson added 20 points in the 116-90 win over the D-Fenders.
Currently on assignment from the Boston Celtics, J.R. Giddens scored 19 points including a game-winning, buzzer-beating jumper in overtime as the Utah Flash defeated the Austin Toros 93-91. Bill Walker, also on assignment from Boston, scored 23 points and dished eight assists.
Austin's Marcus Williams and Colorado's James Mays both recorded double-doubles, scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds each.
ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS...a look at D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games
22 players with D-League experience competed in 10 NBA games last night, five as starters. Here are the highlights:
Ramon Sessions scored 21 points, and dished out four assists in 31 minutes of play for the Milwaukee Bucks.
C.J. Miles collected 18 points and three rebounds for the Utah Jazz, in the 120-94 win over the Sacramento Kings.
Golden State Warrior C.J. Watson finished with 17 points and three rebounds in 24 minutes.
Jamario Moon netted 10 points and pulled down four rebounds in 27 minutes for the Toronto Raptors.
Louis Williams recorded 15 points for the Philadelphia 76ers.
ASSIGN OF SUCCESS: Six players on assignment from the NBA contributed on D-League opening night. As a group, NBA assigned players averaged 17.6 points and 8.3 rebounds in 32.6 minutes of play.
