Bensenville, Illinois- Hudson Stremmel made 37 saves as the host Chicago Steel shut out the RoughRiders 2-0 Friday night.
Chicago's Andrew Miller scored what would prove to be the game winner when he broke a scoreless deadlock just 32 seconds into the second period. Miller cut into the slot and whipped a backhander past Rider goaltender Mike Johnson.
The Steel was on the power play when Eric Alexander scored a key insurance goal from close range with just five minutes left in the third period.
Stremmel was at his busiest in the third, turning away 15 Riders shots over the final 20 minutes.
