Chaumont Inked For RiverKings Forward Line

(Southaven, MS) -- A proven goal scorer is coming to provide an impact on offense for the Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) this season, as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kaminski has signed forward Bobby Chaumont (SHOH-mont) for the 2008-09 campaign. Chaumont comes to Mississippi after a successful rookie season in Laredo two years ago and a stint in the ECHL last season.

Last season, Chaumont played for the Dayton Bombers in the ECHL, where he scored five goals and posted 13 points in just 26 games.

The year prior in the CHL with the Laredo Bucks, Bobby tallied 27 goals and had sixty points in 64 games. He was second on the Bucks' roster in goals and points, led the Bucks in power play goals scored with 12 and was tied for second on the roster in game-winning goals scored with six.

Chaumont added seven goals and 22 points in 21 playoff contests, as Laredo extended Colorado to six games before falling to the Eagles in the Ray Miron President's Cup championship series. That season, Chaumont was named to the CHL All-Rookie Team and played in the CHL All-Star Game, where he scored a goal and added an assist for the Southern Conference in a 9-6 loss to their Northern Conference counterparts.

Chaumont came to the professional ranks after playing one season of collegiate hockey at Dalhousie University in Canada. Chaumont led the Halifax, Nova Scotia-based Tigers in scoring in 2005-06, scoring 12 goals and adding 11 assists in 28 games.

Bobby went to the Canadian university after playing four years of major junior hockey with his home town Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League from 2001 to 2005. In those four seasons, Bobby never missed a game, setting an OHL record for consecutive game appearances. At the same time, Chaumont led his team in goal scoring in each of his four years with the Wolves, scoring 31 goals in each of his last two seasons with the OHL club.

Kaminski says Chaumont is a talented scorer who knows how to make himself available to score. "It's a natural instinct in scorers and is hard to teach. He is the winger we've been looking for all summer and will be a big part of our power play."

Bobby says his game thrives in the attacking zone. "Every league I've played in I've been able to score," Chaumont says. "I think I have a good scoring ability, a good sense of where to be on the ice, where to find guys and how to put the puck in the net."
