Killer Bees Announce Training Camp, Preseason Details

HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced details for their 2008 Training Camp including a pair of preseason games vs. the Laredo Bucks.

Players begin arriving in the Rio Grande Valley the Week of October 1. Players will undergo physicals on Saturday, October 4, before attending the annual Season Ticket Holder Pick Up Party at the Dodge Arena that night.

On-ice sessions begin Monday, October 6, at Dodge Arena and close Thursday, October 16, at the RGV Ice Center. The Killer Bees will play preseason games on successive nights, traveling to Laredo on Thursday, October 9 (7 p.m.), and then hosting the Bucks at Dodge Arena on Friday, October 10 (7:35 p.m.).

The Killer Bees will have at least 24 players competing for 19 available roster slots. The team has officially announced the signing of 18 players.

"Just because we send out a press release saying a player has signed with us does not guarantee him a spot on the team," Killer Bees Head Coach Chris Brooks said. "This will be an intense camp and the guys coming down here better be ready to battle for a job."

The team will open camp with two-a-day sessions from October 6-8. During the second week of camp, the team will skate in regular practice sessions from 10 a.m.-noon before reconvening for special teams work from 4-5 p.m. All training camp sessions are open to the public. The Killer Bees open their sixth season at Dodge Arena on October 18 vs. the Rocky Mountain Rage. Season tickets are available now by calling 956-843-PUCK (7825).
