Inland Empire 66ers News Release

San Bernardino, CA - When the 66ers' players traded in their baseball cleats for golf spikes and bats for clubs last month, they were doing it for a great cause. The Inland Empire 66ers' front office recently donated $9,250 to the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital after a day in the sun at San Bernardino Golf Club.

A good number of 66ers' players were decked out in plaid golf shorts and golf visors for the event including Bridger Hunt, Trayvon Robinson, Josh Wall, Drew Locke, Scott Van Slyke, Tim Sexton, Javy Guerra, David Pfeiffer and Tommy Giles just to name a few.

A hint of baseball was still present at the golf course, for example, on one hole golfers were to use a baseball bat to drive a golf ball down the fairway. With a lot of the Dodgers' power hitting prospects at the event it was Wall, a pitcher, who won the longest "drive".

The 66ers and Loma Linda University Children's Hospital have been working together for years now. The hospital itself has one of the largest and most advanced Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the world. Loma Linda University Children's Hospital is also where infant heart transplant was pioneered more than 20 years ago. Since then more than 6,000 of these procedures have been conducted around the world. Joannna DeLeon, Director of Children's Hospital Foundation, was on hand at Arrowhead Credit Union Park to except the check from Byron Marquez and Loren Foxx.

The 66ers would like to thank everyone who participated in the golf outing including all of the sponsors that were involved.
