Biedenharn To Grizzlies Sales Position
August 27, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release
(Southaven, MS) - Mississippi RiverKings' Director of Ticket Sales Maggie Biedenharn has announced that she has accepted a position working in the front office with the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association. In her new role, Biedenharn will be the Manager of Corporate Partnership Sales for the NBA franchise.
Biedenharn has been with the RiverKings for the past two years, first as an account executive and has been serving during the past year as Director of Ticket Sales for the Central Hockey League franchise.
"The RiverKings was my first job out of school," Biedenharn said. "I never thought I'd be working in hockey and I never, ever thought I'd be working in Mississippi. However, I've never regretted taking the job or making the move."
Maggie received a bachelor's degree in Sport Management from the University of Dayton. She was involved in several activities while in school, including marketing internships with the STAR International Soccer League and the Atlantic Ten Conference Basketball Shootout, both in Dayton.
She was also the sponsor support liaison and special event coordinator for the Western and Southern Financial Group Masters and Women's Open tennis tournaments, both held in Cincinnati, Ohio, before coming to her current position in the Mid-South.
A native of Royal Oak, Michigan, Maggie was raised in the Cincinnati suburb of Erlanger, Kentucky. She grew up playing several sports, competitive soccer and tennis, in particular.
Biedenharn is grateful for the opportunity she received working with the RiverKings. "I don't know where else I could have gotten the opportunity to advance my career and take on a leadership role within a professional sports organization in such a short period of time," Maggie said.
RiverKings' Director of Business Operations Dave "Ab" Mattice said Biedenharn's move to the Grizzlies shows that the RiverKings and the CHL continue to do its job in advancing people to the "next level."
"We are very sad to see Maggie go; she did a great job in stepping in and handling the ticket director job when the post was made available," Mattice said. "But, this is what this level of sports is all about and that is to try and get to the next level. We may be sad but we are also happy and excited for Maggie to make that jump to the big leagues and wish her the best, and it will be good to know that she will be just up the Interstate with the Grizzlies."
RiverKings' season tickets remain available for the upcoming Central Hockey League, set to begin on October 17th at the DeSoto Civic Center against the Wichita Thunder. For more information, contact the RiverKings' offices at 662-342-1755 today!
