An Introduction to the Majors 2008-09 Exhibition Schedule

Mississauga, ON - As 2008-09 approaches, fans can surely look forward to another exciting hockey season with the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors! The Majors will start off the year by playing three exhibition games at home, where they will be travelling to select locations in and around the community, as well as three games on the road.

Here is a breakdown of the Majors pre-season schedule at home:

On Saturday, September 6, the Majors will bring their game to Milton, Ontario as they face-off against the Owen Sound Attack at Milton Memorial Arena at 7 p.m. The rink is located at 77 Thompson Road South, at the intersection of Main Street East and Thompson Road South. The Town of Milton is located only minutes from the City of Mississauga, and is also known as the Escarpment Country. Serving over 70,000 residents, it has also become one of the fastest growing communities in the region of Halton.

The following afternoon (September 7), the Majors will take on the Peterborough Petes at 2 p.m. at Port Credit Arena in Mississauga. The rink is located at 40 Stavebank Road North at the intersection of Hurontario Street and Lakeshore Road West in Port Credit (Mississauga's Village on the Lake).

Then, the Majors will welcome the Kitchener Rangers to Iceland Arena on Saturday, September 13 at 2 p.m. The rink is located at 705 Matheson Blvd. at the intersection of Matheson Blvd. and Kennedy Road, opposite of the Hershey Centre, in Mississauga. Players also taking part in the 2008 Mississauga Early Bird Tournament, which runs from September 8th to September 14th at Iceland Arena, are welcome to drop by and catch the action that afternoon, free-of-charge!

All Majors home exhibition games are open to public. For non-season ticket holders, tickets will be available for purchase at the door for only $5.00 each. Majors season ticket holders will be able to attend all Majors home exhibition games free-of-charge.

The team's pre-season schedule for away games is as follows:

Thursday, September 4 - Majors vs Peterborough Petes @ 7 p.m. Friday, September 12 - Majors vs Kitchener Rangers @ 7:30 p.m. Sunday, September 14 - Majors vs Owen Sound Attack @ 2 p.m.

Mississauga's regular season kicks off on the road when they visit the Barrie Colts on Thursday, September 18 at 7:30 p.m. The Majors home opener will take place on Friday, October 3 at 7:30 p.m. as they take on the Niagara IceDogs.
