Following a seven-game road trip, the Blue Crabs return home for a three-game weekend series, August 8-10. The August 8 game is Crazy 8's Night (08/08/08), presented by Tony Doumit Orthodontics. The Blue Crabs will be wearing special #8 jerseys, which will be auctioned off via an in-game silent auction, to benefit the Southern Maryland Food Bank. The auction will also include autographed memorabilia from two of the area's most famous #8's - Cal Ripken, Jr. and Alex Ovechkin. Fireworks will follow the August 8 and August 9 games. The Blue Crabs will also pay tribute to the upcoming Olympics during the August 9 game. On Sunday, August 10 the first 1,500 fans will receive a Pinch T-shirt, courtesy of Community Bank of Tri-County.

On the morning of August 9, the Blue Crabs will host the Inaugural 5K and Kids' Fun Run, to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. Each participant in the event will receive a Blue Crabs T-shirt and a picnic pavilion ticket for the game in the evening, which includes a two-hour, all-you-can-eat buffet. The race begins at 8 a.m. (check-in at 7 a.m.) and is sponsored by Red Bull, Chick-fil-A, US Foodservice, Wawa, Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, Civista, Do Dah Deli, Gold's Gym, Shopper's Food and Pharmacy, Southern Maryland Hospital and The Medical Index. The first-ever concert at Regency Furniture Stadium follows the three-game homestand on Monday, August 11 when REO Speedwagon comes to Southern Maryland. Tickets are still available for the general admission-only show, which includes standing-room on the field and seating in the lower seating bowl. The stage will be located just behind second base for both the August 11 concert and the September 20 Southern Maryland Country Music Festival.

The Blue Crabs hit the road again for the middle part of the month, but then close August with ten home games in 14 days, from August 18-24 and August 29-31. Promotional highlights include post-game fireworks shows on Saturday, August 23 and 30, along with a series of three commemorative poster giveaways (courtesy of Beacon Printing) for the first 1,500 fans on August 22 ("First Pitch"), August 24 (Pinch) and August 30 (Team Photo). August comes to an end with a special COSMIC Symphony performance during the fireworks on August 30, and the second baseball card team set giveaway to the first 1,000 fans on Sunday, August 31.

Tickets are still available for all remaining Blue Crabs home games - along with the two concerts - via the team website at www.SOMDbluecrabs.com, at the stadium box office or by phone. 2009 season tickets are scheduled to go on sale on Monday, August 4.
