Trenton Signs Four Players

July 21, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL) Trenton Devils

Trenton, NJ - The Trenton Devils, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils, today signed four players: forwards Chris Poli and Tony Zancanaro, and defensemen David Leaderer and Matt Torti. The announcement was made by Trenton Devils General Manager Chris Lamoriello. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.

Poli, who will turn 23 next month, joined Trenton at the end of the 2007-08 season, notching four goals and 13 penalty minutes in 11 appearances. The 6-1, 205-lb. forward joined the organization after four seasons at Brown University (ECAC). Poli's collegiate totals show 17 goals and 32 assists for 49 points and 69 penalty minutes in 118 games for the Bears. He was born August 1, 1985 in Medfield, MA.

Zancanaro, 26, re-joins the ECHL Devils after posting 15 goals and 24 assists for 39 points and 64 penalty minutes in 72 games last season. The 5-6, 165-lb. forward made his pro debut by appearing in eight games with Trenton in 2006-07. Zancanaro played four seasons at Providence College (HE), recording 23 goals and 29 assists for 52 points and 140 penalty minutes in 146 games for the Friars. He was born June 4, 1982 in Trenton, MI.

Leaderer, who will be 22 next week, spent the past four seasons at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (HE). His career totals show 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points and 110 penalty minutes in 149 games for the Minutemen. Leaderer was twice named a member of the Hockey East All-Academic Team. The 5-11, 190-lb. defenseman was born July 31, 1986 in Rochester, NY.

Torti, 24, spent the past four seasons at Colgate University (ECAC). The 6-5, 210-lb. defenseman saw action in 154 contests with the Raiders, posting two goals and nine assists for 11 points and 150 penalty minutes. Torti was born January 18, 1984 in Oxford, MA.
