Salmon Kings Head To Idaho For Preseason Games
July 21, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that their preseason will consist of two games in Idaho versus the Steelheads.
The Salmon Kings will play two games against the Steelheads in the mountain resort town of McCall, Idaho. It has a population of just over 2,000, and is located 173 kilometers north of Boise.
The games will be played on Friday October 10th and Saturday October 11th. Both contests will begin at 7:10 p.m. MDT at the Manchester Ice and Events Centre.
"Going to Idaho for the preseason is a great opportunity to view the players both on-and-off ice," General Manager and Head Coach Mark Morrison said. "To play a quality team such as the Steelheads is also a great evaluation tool from a team standpoint."
This marks the third time that the Salmon Kings and Steelheads will play preseason games, and the second time in McCall, Idaho. The first time the teams met was during the 2004-05 preseason when Idaho traveled to Chilliwack and Vancouver, B.C. The teams also played in McCall for two sold out preseason games prior to the 2006-07 season.
Last season Victoria played their two pre-season contests in Utah versus the Grizzlies.
