The Sioux City Explorers got a great outing from starting pitcher Paige Dumont and plenty of offense in support of his efforts to roll to an easy win at home. Dumont got off to a shaky start, allowing three runs in the first inning, but then settled in and shut down the Canaries the rest of the way. He allowed just the three runs on seven hits while striking out seven in the complete game victory. The Explorers out-hit the opposition 15-7 led by CF Dustin Jones, who was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. All but one Sioux City hitter recorded a hit in the game, including C Chris Grossman, who homered and was 2-for-3.

Fort Worth 9, Wichita 3

The Fort Worth record crowd of 12,457 that showed up at LaGrave Field did not go home disappointed, as the Cats made light work of Wichita en route to their third win of the second half. Fort Worth starting pitcher Lee Gwaltney ran his record to a perfect 6-0, thanks to eight solid innings. He allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits in the outing. The Cats collected 11 hits as a team, led by CF Brian Fryer who was 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and a pair of RBI. Fort Worth LF Ed Montague also homered and was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

Lincoln 4, St. Paul 1

Lincoln got things started early with a run in the first inning and would never trail in the game as they earned a road win in front of 9,056. Lincoln starting pitcher Jarrett Gardner allowed one run on four hits while striking out four in seven innings of work to improve to 4-3 on the season. Saltdogs 1B Mario Delgado did the bulk of the damage at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored to lead the offense. Lincoln reliever Benny Cepeda fanned three in 1 1/3 innings to earn his first save of the season.

Shreveport 4, El Paso 1

Shreveport rallied from a 1-0 deficit with two runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth to win on the road in front of a league-record crowd of 13,209. Shreveport starting pitcher Thad Markray was phenomenal. He allowed one run on five hits and walked one while striking out 10 in a complete game effort. The victory runs his record to 6-3 on the year. Sports DH Justin Humphries led all hitters in the game. He was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Shreveport CF Deacon Burns also had a good game. He was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Grand Prairie 9, Pensacola 7

Down 5-2 entering the eighth inning, it appeared as if a come-from-behind victory was on the horizon when Pensacola rallied for five runs to take a 7-5 lead. Not to be outdone, the AirHogs answered with four runs of their own in the bottom of that frame to retake the lead at 9-7 and went on to win by that same margin. Grand Prairie LF Brandon Carter led the way for the AirHogs' offense. He was 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. CF Drew Holder also had a good game, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Pelicans 1B Brandon Sing continued to crush the ball. He was 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in the losing effort.
