Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings at Dunn Tire Park in the second game of a four-game, home-and-home series (6:05 p.m.). After tonight's game, the series will shift to Frontier Field on Friday evening. The Herd trails 1-0 in the set following last night's 5-4 defeat in 12 innings. On the mound tonight for the Bisons will be RHP Matt Ginter. The veteran has won three straight decisions including a one-hit effort on Saturday against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Rochester will counter with RHP Kevin Mulvey.
SOLID STARTER: RHP Matt Ginter has not allowed more than one run in any of his last three starts (0.95ERA). In his last effort, he allowed just one hit in six shutout innings to defeat the Yankees on Saturday night. The veteran is 6-2 with a 2.86ERA in his last 11 starts. On the season, Ginter leads the Bisons in wins (6), starts (15), innings pitched (89.1) and strikeouts (57).
ONE'S NOT ENOUGH: OF Brad Snyder launched a pair of home runs in last night's defeat and now has seven homers on the season. He's the fourth Herd batter to go deep twice in a game and first since Ryan Mulhern accomplished the feat, May 8 in Syracuse. Snyder is second on the Bisons in doubles (16) and extra-base hits (24) and tied for third in home runs (7).
LOVES THE WINGS: INF Michael Aubrey continued his torrid pace against Red Wings pitching. Aubrey had two more hits last night and now has averaged .382 (13-34) with four doubles, a home run and four RBI against Rochester this year.
BISONS BITS: INF Jordan Brown is 13 for his last 32 at the plate, good for a .406 batting average. He has raised batting average 17 points (.274 - .291) since June 22...LHP Rich Rundles has been selected to the International League All-Star Team. Rundles is 5-4 with a 3.48ERA in 32 games with the Herd this season.
IT'S TRADITION: The great Buffalo summer event returns tonight with the Bisons' 14th annual Independence Eve Celebration with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus and the Largest Fireworks Show of the Season, presented by KeyBank. Since its debut in 1995, the Bisons/BPO Celebration has attracted 247,575 fans. This year's milestone crowd will push this annual rite of summer past the quarter of a million-fan mark.
