Staten Island Yankees Announce Two sellouts

Staten Island, NY- Building on the momentum from last season the Staten Island Yankees are proud to announce that two games, Opening Day, Wednesday, June 18th and Sunday, June 22nd have been declared sellouts. This is the first time in the 10 year history of the franchise that two games have sold our prior to the first pitch of the season being thrown.

Fans lucky enough to have gotten tickets for either of these games or the Friday night, June 20th contest against Brooklyn will be among the first to see some of the new additions to the Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

Fans will notice a newly installed scoreboard that will keep them up-to-date on the all the action throughout the game. Another noticeable addition that is sure to bring smiles to the faces of the entire family is the Staten Island Physicians Practice Fun Zone. Located near the left-field entrance to the ballpark the Fun Zone features arts & crafts for the kids, face painters, and four brand new inflatable's. Kids will enjoy the moon bounce that can be seen throughout the park due to its distinctive, giant bouncing Yankees hat. Fans of all ages will have a chance to test their arm with the speed pitch, swing for the fences with t-ball, or score some points in "Scooter's Skee-ball".

Staten Island Yankees President Joe Ricciutti knows fans are excited about the 2008 season: "I have spoken to so many fans who have expressed to me that they can't wait for the season to begin.

Many have said with gas prices being what they are, they plan to stay local this summer and are looking for fun and affordable things to do with their families right here on Staten Island."

Ricciutti continued that thought by saying: "We have so many exciting things going on this season, Friday Night Fireworks, great in-game entertainment such as the Zooperstars, plus the best young talent in baseball...I hope all fans, especially those who have never been to the Ballpark before, make a point to come out this summer and see how much fun a night at the ballpark really is."

Jane Rogers, the Baby Bombers Executive Vice President & General Manager has never seen anything like this during her 10 years with the club. "I can't wait for Opening Day, and to know that we have a second sellout just a few days later is fantastic. It is wonderful to see such a great response from the fans."

If you are interested in seeing some great ball and catching a great post-game fireworks show, there are still limited tickets available for the Friday, June 20th game.
