
Gamblers Name Jon Cooper Head Coach

GRAND FORKS, N.D.: The Green Bay Gamblers announced today that they have named Jon Cooper their new head coach and general manager. Cooper replaces Mark Mazzoleni who was relieved of his duties in February. Dave Insalaco then served as the head coach on an interim basis until a full-time replacement was hired.
Cooper spent the last five seasons as the head man with the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League. He compiled a record of 198-76-16 in those five seasons and led the Bandits to the Robertson Cup title, which goes to the NAHL playoff champions, in 2007 and 2008. He was named the NAHL Coach of the Year in 2005 and again in 2008.
Prior to his time in St. Louis, the native of Prince George, British Columbia native spent a season with the Honeybaked Midget AAA team out of Detroit, guiding them to a 67-7-1 record. He also has stints as the head coach of the Central States Hockey League's Metro Jets and as an assistant coach with the NAHL's Capital Centre Pride on his coaching resume.
Cooper, who attended Hofstra University, played hockey and lacrosse in college.
