Wilmington, DE-The Salem Avalanche, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Houston Astros, saw Wilmington post five straight singles in a four-run second inning Wednesday night at Frawley Stadium in a 7-2 win for the Blue Rocks. Wilmington (15-17) swept Salem (13-19) with the win, the first sweep by an opponent of the Avs this season.

With two down and the bases clear in the second frame, Miguel Vega poked a single to center against Casey Hudspeth. After Josh Johnson punched a base hit to left, Matt Morizio followed suit and Wilmington led first. Next, Brett Bigler's base hit scored Johnson for a 2-0 score. The following batter, Jarrod Dyson, deadened a ball in front of the plate toward first base. Casey Hudspeth's throw missed the mark at first and Wilmington scored a pair of runs.

Salem got a couple back in the second when a Koby Clemens double put two on in scoring position. Nick Moresi grounded a ball to third that Kurt Mertins couldn't handle. Both Clemens and Jordan Parraz scored on the error which halved the lead for Salem.

Wilmington advanced the lead in the sixth, however, As Joe Dickerson tripled Kurt Mertins home. Immediately after, Anthony Seratelli's single drove Dickerson home and Hudspeth out of the game.

The sweep for Wilmington in the three-game series was the Blue Rocks' second skunking of an opponent in a set this year. The Avs had not been swept all year.

Salem returns home for a one-game homestand Thursday. 7:07 PM is the scheduled game time with Winston-Salem as right-hander Matt Long goes for the Warthogs against Salem southpaw Douglas Arguello.
