GreenJackets to Honor Augusta State Basketball Team

Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets are well into summer and the 2008 baseball season, but the GreenJackets will look back toward winter and the Augusta State Men's basketball team. On Sunday, May 4th the GreenJackets will have a pre-game ceremony to honor the team that made it to the National Championship game in Springfield, Mass.

"ASU had an incredible run this past season and we really wanted to congratulate them on the season they had," GreenJackets General Manager Nick Brown said. "Anytime you make it to a National Championship is something special and we were all watching the games following right along this winter."

Augusta State's quest for an NCAA Division II National Championship ended in the Championship Game with an 87-76 loss to the Winona State Warriors in Springfield, Mass on March 29. The Jaguars finished the season 27-7, ASU's most successful season in school history.

Along with the pre-game ceremony to honor the team, also on Sunday, fans with a student ID will get to buy two tickets for the price of one.

It's also $1 hot dogs at the park as the GreenJackets take on the Rome Braves, Single-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.
