FORT MILL, S.C. - April 17, 2008- Three in a row was enough for the Charlotte Knights. Coming into Thursday's game with the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees, the Knights had lost three straight-including two the Yankees-but that all ended in the Knights 10-2 win over the Yanks.
Charlotte took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st with a Brad Eldred single scored Jason Bourgeois. Entering the bottom of the 4th with the game tied at 1-1, Knights catcher Donny Lucy opened things up with a three-run home run-his first of the season-to give Charlotte a 4-1 lead. The Knights then put the game out of reach in the 8th, when Eldred and Dewayne Wise hit back-to-back home runs, scoring five runs in the process building Charlotte's lead to 10-2.
Wes Whisler (3-0, 1.08) picked up his third win of the season for the Knights. Jeff Marquez (1-2, 9.82) took the loss for the Yankees.
The teams' conclude their four-game series on Friday. The Knights will send Rob Bell (1-1, 7.20) to the mound. The Yankees counter with Kei Igawa (1-2, 1.72). Game time is 7:15 p.m.
