
Wings Slip Past Braves

Rochester, NY - The Rochester Red Wings beat the Richmond Braves 2-1 Thursday at Frontier Field. Neither pitching staff issued a walk as Rochester won the fourth straight one-run decision between the two clubs.
The Red Wings jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third on a two-run homer by Brian Buscher. Richmond cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fifth on an RBI single by Josh Anderson. The Braves had two hits in the ninth inning but Barbaro Canizares was thrown out trying to stretch a double into a triple and Reggie Taylor was stranded at first.
Kevin Mulvey struck out nine in seven innings and earned the win. Francisley Bueno worked a club season-high seven innings for Richmond and did not walk a man, but took the loss. Mariano Gomez collected a save. Canizares, Scott Thorman, and Clint Sammons had two hits each for the Braves. Jason Pridie and Darnell McDonald had two hits each for the Red Wings.
The Braves close the road trip Friday vs. Rochester at 7:05. Jo-Jo Reyes will pitch for the Braves against Heath Totten.
