Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and their corporate partners have combined to raise better than $42,000 for local non-profit groups this season, the RoughRiders announced today.

"We're thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with our partners in giving back to a community that has supported the RoughRouders so strongly," said RoughRiders Vice President Jim Calpin.

St. Luke's Iowa Health System raised over $20,000 for the St. Luke's Spirit Fund with the Riders' assistance through sponsorship sales for a "Pink Game" to benefit breast cancer patients, tickets drives, a special game worn jersey auction and other avenues.

The Riders have also teamed up with the Cedar Rapids Hockey Association and the Iowa City Youth Hockey Association for ticket sales drives that raised a total of better than $3,000. The ALS Association and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Eastern Iowa have likewise been among the Riders' fundraising partners, as have, among many others, the University of Iowa Dance Marathon, United Way and Mission of Hope.

In addition to the wide array of fundraising efforts the Riders have made in concert with these and other groups, the team has also made smaller scale individual donations of tickets and merchandise worth in excess of $1,500 to a host of fund raising events benefiting local schools, families, youth programs, medical research programs and other organizations.
