
Indians Sign OF Jason Tyner to Minor League Deal

The Cleveland Indians today signed OF Jason Tyner to a minor league contract. He will report to early minor league camp in the coming days.
Tyner, 30, played 38 games for the Bisons during their 2004 International League Governors' Cup Championship season. Signed on July 28 of that year, he hit .345 (48-139) with 16RBI and five stolen bases with Herd during the regular season. Tyner then started every game in the outfield in the IL Playoffs, hitting .200 (7-35) with two RBI and two runs scored. His two-run double in the Bisons' Governors' Cup-clinching win over Richmond in Game 4 of the Finals was the game-winning hit.
Tyner spent the entire 2007 season with the Minnesota Twins where he hit .286 (87-304) with 14 doubles, two triples, one home run, 22RBI and eight stolen bases in 114 games. The home run was his first and only in 1,356 career Major League at-bats (439 games).
Tyner owns a career Major League batting average of .275 (373-1356) with 41 doubles, 11 triples, one home run and 94RBI in 439 games with the Mets, Devil Rays and Twins.
