Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry News Release
LAWTON, OKLA.- Oklahoma Cavalry President/General Manager Otis Birdsong announced today that the team has named Greg Minor as the new assistant coach.
"I am extremely pleased to add Greg to the Cavs family," Birdsong said. "He is a true professional on and off the court."
This will be Minor's first stint in the coaching realm, but is sure to bring his expertise as a former NBA basketball player.
Minor is a native of Sandersville, Ga. and played his college basketball at the University of Louisville. After his college career, Minor was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers as the 25th overall pick in the 1994 NBA Draft.
He went on to play five seasons for the Boston Celtics, before a hip injury ended his career early in 1999.
Forced into retirement early, Minor chose to go back to school and earn his degree. He received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice administration from the University of Phoenix in the summer of 2006. In addition, he has also been involved in real estate and the thoroughbred business over the past few years.
Minor and his wife, Stephanie, currently reside in Orlando, Fl. with their four children Kira, Greg, Khalid and Chloe.
