
Winston-Salem Warthogs Announce Baseball Scholarship

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - In order to sustain the legacy of baseball's rich history in the community, the Winston-Salem Warthogs are proud to announce the creation of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Baseball Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes those student-athletes who have demonstrated leadership in the community, success in the classroom, and excellence on the playing field by rewarding them with a one-time financial aid package of $2,500.
Candidates must:
- Be a current senior at a Forsyth County high school
- Be on the baseball roster for the 2008 season
- Maintain an overall 3.0 GPA
All nominees will interview in front of a panel of four Warthogs representatives during the month of January. The recipient of the 2008 Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Baseball Scholarship will be announced at the Winston-Salem Warthogs annual Hot Stove Banquet to be held January 31, 2008 at the Benton Convention Center in downtown Winston-Salem. All coaches and nominees will also be recognized on the night of the banquet.

The Winston-Salem Warthogs open to 2008 season on Friday, April 4 at Kinston. Opening Day in Winston-Salem is Tuesday, April 8 at 7 p.m. when the Warthogs welcome the Lynchburg Hillcats to Ernie Shore Field for a three-game series.
