All-Star Logo Unveiled

November 26, 2007 - Midwest League (MWL) Great Lakes Loons

The Great Lakes Loons have unveiled the logo for the 2008 Midwest League All-Star Game, which will be held June 17 at Dow Diamond in Midland, MI.

The new logo prominently features a blazing fire, highlighting some of the most unique features of Dow Diamond. The ballpark features two fireplaces - one on the main concourse behind home plate and one on the suite lobby - and two fire pits located near the outfield lawn seating areas.

The flames from the fire form star-like formations, an allusion to the superstar quality baseball players that will participate in the game. Past participants in the Midwest League All-Star Game include Greg Maddux, Alex Rodriguez, Johan Santana, Dontrelle Willis, and former Loon Clayton Kershaw.

Behind the flames is a diamond-shaped brick design. Brick was the key material used in the construction of Dow Diamond, evident in the ballpark's structure. The stadium's warning track is also made from crushed brick from Dow Chemical's 47 Building, which once stood at Dow Diamond's current site and housed Dow's first corporate headquarters.

"The design is representative of Mid-Michigan summers while maintaining the look and feel of the Loons brand," said Chris Mundhenk, Loons Assistant General Manager for Marketing and Promotions.

The logo was created by the Plan B Branding company.

All-Star merchandise featuring the new logo will be available at the Loon Loft and online at Loons.com in the coming weeks. A full schedule of events surrounding the All-Star week will be made available in the coming months.
