Gwinnett Stripers News Release
Richmond, VA - Putting an exclamation point on a championship season, the Richmond Braves set an official Guinness World Record for the largest number of people wearing Groucho Marx glasses at the same time when 2,513 fans and Braves staff donned the glasses during the Braves game vs. Toledo July 21.
The Braves set the record for mass-wearing of Groucho specs at the end of the fifth inning of the game between the Braves and Mud Hens at The Diamond. The record was officially certified by Guinness World Records following the Braves submission of video and photos of the event, a signed roll of participants, and notarized witness statements from local media. Participating fans had to wear the glasses for a minimum of 10 minutes. The previous Guinness World Record for largest number of people wearing Groucho Marx glasses was 1,463 people at the Goreham, Maine Family Festival on July 30, 2006.
The R-Braves open defense of their International League championship Thursday, April 3, 2008 vs. Rochester. For information on 2008 tickets and corporate partnership opportunities please call the Braves at 359-4444 or visit www.rbraves.com.
