Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
The Edmonton Oil Kings announced today that Canadian recording star Eva Avila will be singing the national anthem and performing a number of her hit songs at the Oil Kings' home opener on Thursday, September 20th, against the Kootenay Ice.
The 19 year old Quebec native is best known for winning the fourth season of CTV's Canadian Idol. Since being crowned the 2006 Canadian Idol, her career has skyrocketed. Her first album 'Somewhere Else' is a staple on radio stations across the country, and her hit single 'Meant To Fly' quickly climbed to number one on the singles charts. Previously, Eva has performed the national anthem at the 2006 Grey Cup, and also for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators.
"This is truly King-Sized news," says Nick Wilson, the Edmonton Oil Kings Vice President of Business Operations and Alternate Governor. "Eva is the perfect artist to launch the new era of Edmonton Oil Kings Hockey. She's the same age as our players, and fits the bill perfectly for providing family friendly entertainment."
Twenty lucky fans attending the Oil Kings home opener on September 20th will also get the chance to meet Eva after the game at an up close and personal meet-and-greet. Entries forms will be available on the Rexall Place concourse at the game, with winners announced during the game.
Limited tickets are still available for the Edmonton Oil Kings home opener. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, online at www.oilkings.ca, or by calling (780) 409-3700.
