Falcons Stack Roster With Hay
July 23, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - Fresno Falcons Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Matt Thomas announced today that the Falcons have agreed to terms with Dwayne Hay, a 30 year old veteran left winger with seventy-nine games of National Hockey League playing experience. Dwayne Hay, a native of London, Ontario was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the 2nd round of the 1995 NHL Draft. His 79 games of NHL experience include stints with the Washington Capitals, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning and the Calgary Flames. Last season Dwayne played 38 games with the Pensacola Ice Pilots in the ECHL, netting 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points.
Coach Matt Thomas is excited about Hay, a player who scores points and loves to hit. "It is important for us to have a veteran forward like Dwayne Hay on this hockey team. His NHL and AHL experience offers veteran wisdom to our team on and off the ice that will surely benefit this year's roster. Dwayne is a physical hockey player who can also put up points. It is a great combination to have a veteran points guy on your team who likes to punish his opponents."
Dwayne Hay, who was reached by phone earlier Monday, expressed his enthusiasm for playing in Fresno. "Deciding to play for Matt Thomas and the Falcons was a "no-brainer" decision. I took one look at the talent already signed and the talent Coach Thomas is going to sign, and determined that Fresno is the place where I can contribute and win a championship. I have never won a championship and that really means something to me"
