
Reds, Cubs Postponed Due to Rain and High Winds

[DAYTONA BEACH, FL] Sunday's game between the Daytona Cubs and the Sarasota Reds has been postponed due to high winds, rain and a wet playing field. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Monday, July 16th. The first game is set for 5:05 p.m. on a Belly Buster Monday with Jeff Samardzija slated to pitch the first game.
Rain and high winds blew through Daytona Beach at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The rainout is only the third in Daytona this season.
Samardzija has won two of his last three starts. He also pitched well his last time on the mound against Lakeland, in which he received a no-decision.
Belly Buster Monday is presented by Papa John's Pizza and 95.7 FM The Hog. Fans receive all-you-can eat hot dogs, hamburgers, peanuts, popcorn and Papa John's pizza, plus a general admission ticket, for just ten dollars. Each game of the doubleheader is set for seven innings, per Florida State League rules.
