Chivas USA ties Red Bulls, 2-2

CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, March 14, 2007) - Chivas USA played to a 2-2 draw with the New York Red Bulls in a preseason exhibition held this morning at The Home Depot Center's Track and Field Stadium. Chivas USA took the lead twice in the match through trialist Laurent Merlin and Chivas USA forward Matt Taylor, only to see the scoreline twice evened by the visitors, on goals from Todd Dunivant and Jozy Altidore. With its April 7 season opener less than a month away, Chivas USA plays its next preseason exhibition, versus rivals Real Salt Lake, this Saturday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. PT at Granada Hills High School in Granada Hills, California. The match marks Chivas USA's first appearance in the San Fernando Valley, and the kick-off of Chivas USA's partnership with Southern California youth powerhouse Real So Cal. Real Salt Lake - including stars Jeff Cunningham, Eddie Pope, Jason Kreis and Freddy Adu - arrived Wednesday afternoon in Southern California and will train Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Granada Hills High School. On Friday, Real Salt Lake is scheduled to train at 10:00 a.m. at Cal State Northridge. Chivas USA, for its part, continues to train at The Home Depot Center's University Field 1 at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday and Friday.
