Otters blitz Rangers in the third

Ronny Rogers scored twice in a five-goal third period to spark the Erie Otters to a 5-3 win over the Kitchener Rangers in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,374 at the Tullio Arena. Mike Liambas, Nick Palmieri and Patrick Lee also scored for the Otters who erased a 3-0 second period deficit on their way to victory. The win ended the Otters five-game losing streak and lifted them to 6-18-0-2 on the season. Mitch Gaulton added two assists for the winners. Jean-Michel Rizk, Kevin Henderson and Nick Spaling staked the Rangers to a 3-0 lead after two. Kitchener saw a two-game winning streak end and are now 15-9-0-2. The Rangers led 1-0 after one and 3-0 heading into the third. Kitchener out shot the Otters 29-25 in the game as Justin Garay posted the victory. The three stars of the game were all from the Otters. Rogers was the first, Gaulton the second and Palmieri the third.

The Otters wrap up the weekend tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon when they travel to Brampton to face the Battalion (9-14-1-2). The game can be heard in it's entirety on 1330 Erie's ESPN Radio and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) immediately following Pittsburgh Steelers Football. The next Otters home game is Saturday, December 2nd when the Mississauga IceDogs visit the Tullio Arena in a 7:30 p.m. start. The first 2,500 fans into the game (18 and over) will receive a scratch-off ticket coupon courtesy of the PA Lottery. Tickets for the game are available at all Erie area TicketMaster locations as well as the Civic Center Box Office.
