Foam Fingers, Fireworks and Fun for Season Opener

OMAHA - Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey will join in the fun with the Royals as they open their 38th season in Omaha next week. The Royals open their 2006 season at Rosenblatt Stadium on Thursday, April 6th with a 7:05 p.m. game against the defending Pacific Coast League champion Nashville Sounds. Fahey is scheduled to throw out a ceremonial first pitch.

The stadium gates will open at 6:00 p.m. and the first 1,500 fans will receive foam fingers, courtesy of Cox Communications and The City Weekly.

The Royals and Con Agra Foods are guaranteeing good weather for the season opener. If the temperature at first pitch is not above 60 degrees, all fans will receive Swiss Miss hot chocolate courtesy of Con Agra Foods.

Music will be provided by Leonard Eby in the stadium's front plaza from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Nikki Boulay, on-air personality from Star 104.5, will sing the National Anthem, with the colors presented by VFW Post 2704.

The evening will conclude with post-game fireworks.

The Royals will once again play 144 games (72 at home) in 2006. Tickets are on sale at www.Oroyals.com, www.etix.com, in person at the Royals ticket office at Rosenblatt Stadium from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, or by calling (402) 738-5100.
