Penn State Alumni Blue Band Featured At Wings Game This Saturday

The Penn State Alumni Blue Band will highlight Penn State Night as the Philadelphia Wings host the Rochester Knighhawks this Saturday, April 1 at 8 p.m. at the Wachovia Center. In addition, Penn State's own Nittany Lion mascot will be in attendance to entertain fans throughout the game.

Approximately 20 members of the Alumni Blue Band will perform pre-game and halftime in the Eleventh Street Atrium, located on the east side of the Wachovia Center. In addition, the Alumni Blue Band will be performing the National Anthem on the field just prior to the start of the game. The Nittany Lion will be entertaining fans throughout the night and will assist the Wings' mascot Mad Dog with promotions throughout the game.

The Penn State Alumni Blue Band (ABBA) boasts about 1,000 members. In addition to enjoying exhibiting their marching and musical skills, ABBA are strong monetary supporters of the Blue Band contributing over $10,000 each year. The 2005-06 Penn State University Blue Band has received much attention over the past year as they strutted the catwalk to open designer Marc Jacobs' spring/summer fashion show on September 12, 2005 in New York City. Band members, along with other Penn State students, were featured in the fashion magazine W in January of 2006 as part of a 47-page photo spread.

Penn State alumni packages, which include a lower level game ticket and admission to a pre-game Happy Hour in Holt's Cigar Club for this Saturday's game, are just $32. Penn State students can purchase lower level tickets for $10. For tickets call 215-952-5430.
