
Steenhuis, Vyse earn Player of the Week honors

BUFFALO, NY (March 29, 2006) - Buffalo Bandits forward Mark Steenhuis has been named the NLL's Offensive and Overall Player of the Week for Week 13. Steenhuis scored two goals in Buffalo's 13-11 win at Minnesota last Friday. He also tied a team record by scoring seven goals in the Bandits 18-13 win over the Rochester Knighthawks on Saturday. A Bandits player has previously scored seven goals in a game three times, most recently when John Tavares scored seven goals against Calgary on January 25, 2003. Tavares also scored seven goals against Columbus on January 6, 2001, while Darris Kilgour scored seven goals at Ontario on February 21, 1998. Steenhuis scored 10 points (9+1) in two games last weekend, and ranks third on the team in scoring with 43 points (27+16).
Six Nations, Ont.-native Roger Vyse has been named Rookie of the Week for Week 13 of the 2006 season. Vyse, who missed the first half of the season with a knee injury, scored two goals in last Friday's win at Minnesota. On Saturday, he scored five points (2+3) in the win against Rochester. In four games this season, Vyse has scored seven goals and added six assists.
