2005 HIGHLIGHTS

SUMMARY: Having never before pitched above Single-A, the Boston-native opened his 5th professional season at Double-A Portland and advanced to Triple-A Pawtucket before making his major league debut with 10 appearances for the Red Sox...between the 3 stops, made a career-high 56 appearances...at the 2 minor league stops, combined to go 7-5 with 5 saves, a 2.55 ERA (17 ER/60.0 IP), a .214 average allowed (48-for-224), 3 home runs and 72 strikeouts, an average of 10.8 K's per 9 innings.

WITH THE RED SOX: Enjoyed 3 stints with the Red Sox July 26-August 15, August 30 for one day and September 6 through the end of the season...did not allow a run his first 3 times out (3.0 IP) and in 9 of his 10 appearances, including his final 6 games (5.1 IP)...did not allow a hit his last 4 times out (3.1 IP)...fanned 9 in 9.0 big league innings...opponents hit just .242 (8-for-33)...made his major league debut July 26 at Tampa Bay, working a 1-2-3 8th inning in a 10-9 10-inning win...recorded his first big league strikeout, fanning Johnny Gomes, the first man he faced...the only game in which he allowed a run was August 7 at Minnesota (3 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks in 0.2 innings).

WITH PORTLAND: Opened the season in the Eastern League, and went 4-4 with 3 saves and a 3.23 ERA in 31 relief appearances...held opponents to a .212 average (31-for-146) and 3 homers in 39.0 innings...walked 20 and fanned 49, an average of 11.3 K's per 9 innings...was 1-2 with a 9.00 ERA (6 ER/6.0 IP) in 6 April appearances, then went 3-2 with 3 saves and a 2.18 ERA (8 ER/33.0 IP) in his final 25 Double-A outings...opponents hit .296 (8-for-27) in April and .193 (23-for-119) thereafter...did not allow a run his last 6 times out (8.1 IP) June 21-July 3...overall, held righties to a .202 average (20-for-99), while lefties batted .234 (11-for-47)...went 2-3 with a save and a 6.14 ERA (10 ER/14.2 IP) at Hadlock Field and 2-1 with 2 saves and a 1.48 ERA (4 ER/24.1 IP) on the road.

WITH PAWTUCKET: Promoted from Portland on July 6, Delcarmen went 3-1 with a pair of saves and a 1.29 ERA (3 ER/21.0 IP) in 15 Triple-A outings...did not allow a run in 13 of his 15 games, including his last 9 in a row (12.0 IP) July 25-September 5...held the International League to a .218 average (17-for-78) and did not surrender a home run...fanned 23 and 21.0 IL innings, an average of 9.9 K's per 9 innings...fanned 5 in 2.0 no-hit, no-run innings in his July 6 Triple-A debut vs. Ottawa...in his next outing, 4 days later, again threw 2.0 scoreless innings, this time striking out 4, at Syracuse...earned his first Triple-A win with 2.0 scoreless innings August 19 vs. Rochester, the start of a 6- appearance run in which he registered 3 wins and 2 saves and did not allow a run in 9.0 innings...notched his first save for the PawSox, recording the final 5 outs and not allowing a run, 2 days later against the Red Wings.
