ST. PAUL, MN - The Philadelphia Wings (3-2), suffered their first loss on the road to the Minnesota Swarm by a score of 11-10 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN. The Wings are in action again tomorrow night when they face the Buffalo Bandits at Wachovia Center at 8 p.m.
"Minnesota had a great night defensively, and saw another night of solid goaltending from (Nick) Patterson" said Wings' General Manager and Head Coach Lindsay Sanderson. "We just weren't able to put the points up tonight."
The Wings and Swarm were evenly matched in scoring most of the night, each scoring two goals in each of the first two quarters and three goals each in the fourth. Minnesota edged Philadelphia in scoring 4-3 in the third quarter to ultimately give them a one-goal lead at the end of the game. Rookies Sean Greenhalgh and Luke Wiles accounted for three of the Wings ten goals tonight.
Leading the Wings in scoring were Keith Cromwell with six points (3G, 3A), Sean Greenhalgh with six points (2G, 4A), Luke Wiles with five points (1G, 4A), Dan Marohl, Jeff Ratcliffe and Jake Bergey all with two points each (1G, 1A), and Marc Morley with one goal. Goaltender Erik Miller had 24 saves on the night.
Leading Minnesota in scoring were Chad Culp (4G, 4A), followed by Sean Pollack and former-Wing Ryan Ward each with four points (2G, 2A), Kasey Biernes with two points (1G, 1A), and Scott Stewart and Daniel Berthiaume each with one goal. Goaltender Nick Patterson had 41 saves.
