
Fisher Cats owner expands commitment to New Hampshire sports and entertainment

Manchester, NH- Art Solomon, Managing Partner of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) is pleased to announce the formation of a new subsidiary of DSF, his Boston-based real estate and financial services company, DSF Sports & Entertainment, as well as the appointment of Rick Brenner as President and Chief Executive Officer of DSF Sports & Entertainment.
Brenner has spent the past six seasons as General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, and previous Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. In addition to his baseball responsibilities, he also organized concerts, festivals, and other non-baseball entertainment. Brenner's duties as President and CEO of DSF Sports & Entertainment include organizing all non-Fisher Cat events at Fisher Cats Ballpark, serving as a consultant to the Fisher Cats, and exploring additional sports and entertainment investment opportunities for DSF. Brenner, a 1994 graduate of Plymouth State University, also spent the past three seasons as the Vice President of the Eastern League.
Solomon is also pleased to announce that he has reached a long term agreement with Shawn Smith to continue to serve as the President and General Manager of the Fisher Cats.
"I am pleased to have two of the top young executives in professional sports and entertainment as part of our effort to bring first-class baseball, concerts, and other family entertainment to the residents of New Hampshire and the surrounding region," Solomon said.
Smith and Brenner have been close friends for the past 12 years, previously working together in the Boston Red Sox organization. Both men have had distinguished careers in professional sports and entertainment. Their careers have paralleled as they have both guided their organizations as winners of the Larry MacPhail Trophy, which annually recognizes the top promotion effort in Minor League Baseball. They have also both been named their league's Executive of the Year. In addition, Smith was recognized for leading his team to the Bob Freitas Award, Baseball America's top honor recognizing sustained excellence in the business of Minor League Baseball, while in Brenner's last season at the helm of the Thunder, they were awarded the John H. Johnson Award, which goes annually to "the complete baseball franchise", encompassing attendance, community service, and history of the franchise.
