Modesto Nuts News Release
The Modesto Nuts Professional Baseball Club has announced the 2006 coaching staff. Former Major League catcher Chad Krueter, a 16-year veteran, will manage the Nuts in 2006. During his career, Krueter caught for seven major league teams including the Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Dodgers. Krueter had a career batting average of .237 with 274 RBI. Kreuter most recently spent time as a coach with the USC Trojans baseball team.
Joining Krueter on the coaching staff is 2005 returnees Glenallen Hill and Butch Hughes. Hill will serve as the Nuts hitting coach once again in 2006. In 2005, the Nuts batted .281 with 120 home runs. Hill was a 13-year major league star and had a career batting average of .271. Butch Hughes is in his third season with the Rockies organization, second in Modesto. Hughes, 64, has been involved in professional baseball for 21 years and also spent time coaching at the amateur level and overseas. He currently resides in Merced, CA.
Modesto Nuts fans will have an opportunity to talk to both Glenallen Hill and Butch Hughes on Thursday, December 15th. The Nuts will host the 2nd Annual Holiday Caravan at Sidelines Pub and Grill on 2801 McHenry Ave. ESPN Radio personality the "Morning Mouth" will be the emcee for the question and answer session scheduled to start at noon.
