
Roberts and Horvath join growing list of Salmon Kings

Victoria, BC - Victoria Salmon Kings Head Coach and General Manager Bryan Maxwell continues to get ink on paper, signing two more players to his offense today.
Maxwell adds his fourth veteran with the signing of 31-year-old, Victoria born Steve Roberts. Roberts completed his ninth season of professional hockey last year with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the SPHL. He played 55 games with the FireAntz recording 38 goals and 31 assists for 69 points.
"Steve is a proven goal scorer at every level he has played," said Bryan Maxwell Head Coach and General Manager of the Victoria Salmon Kings. "It is an added bonus that Steve is from Victoria and we expect him to have a great season in front of his family and friends."
The 5'11 190lbs winger has played three seasons in the ECHL, all with the Dayton Bombers. In the 1996-97 season with the Bombers, Roberts recorded 73 points (47 goals, 26 assists) in 62 games.
Roberts played five seasons in Britain. In the 2001-02 season he played a total of 39 games with the Coventry Blaze and Hull Thunder, recording 42 goals and 26 assists for 68 points. Roberts has consistently been a goal scorer at every stop he has made in his professional career. He played from 2002-04 with the San Angelo Saints of the CHL scoring 48 goals and 27 assists for 75 points in 81 games.
Scott Horvath comes to the Salmon Kings by way of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies where he played under Salmon Kings Vice-President of Hockey Operations, Dan Belisle.
Horvath is a native of West Reading, Connecticut and was a sixth round (184th overall) selection of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He stands at 6'2 and weighs 225lbs and will be another solid frame for Maxwell.
"Scott's signing brings us another power forward that has a great upside. At 6'2 225lbs we continue to sign players with size and ability," said Maxwell.
Horvath played 31 games with UMass-Amherst in the NCAA before moving to the Ontario Hockey League to play two seasons with the Toronto St.Michael's Majors. Horvath played 94 games in the OHL notching 26 goals and 19 assists for 45 points.
"Over the last two seasons Scott has shown me that he has a lot of potential to play in this league and this year we will give him the opportunity to prove himself," said Dan Belisle, Vice-President of Hockey Operations for the Victoria Salmon Kings.
The 23-year-old power-forward has played a total of 95 games in the ECHL, scoring 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points.
