LAST NIGHT'S GAME: The Richmond Braves beat the Norfolk Tides 4-2 Saturday at Harbor Park. The Braves rebounded from early errors and a 2-0 deficit to win their sixth game in seven days. Norfolk got on the board first as an Andy Marte error kept the inning alive and Mike DiFelice grounded out to first with the bases loaded scoring Eric Valent. Rodney Nye added a home run in the second, but that would be all Norfolk could muster against Richmond. The Braves brought a run home in the fourth as James Jurries, who struck out but reached base on a wild pitch, scored on a double by John Barnes cutting the lead to 2-1. The Braves tied the game on a double by Kerry Robinson and took the lead on a James Jurries RBI single in the fifth. The Braves added an insurance run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Jurries to make it 4-2. Adam Bernero picked up his second win in as many tries lasting five innings and allowing only one earned run. Brian Bannister took the loss for Norfolk despite striking out eight in seven innings. Jorge Vasquez earned his first save of the season. Tony Pena, Scott Thorman and Kerry Robinson had two hits each for the Braves. Eric Valent and Mike DiFelice had two hits each for the Tides. The Braves committed three errors for the second game in a row.

ROSTER MOVES: LHP Macay McBride was promoted to Atlanta on 7/22. McBride made his major league debut Friday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks (1IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 1K). RHP Roman Colon joins the R-Braves from Atlanta. The Braves roster now stands at 24 (12 pitchers, two catchers, seven infielders, and three outfielders). Four players are on the DL. Ten Braves have earned big league call-ups this season and three are currently with Atlanta (McBride, Kelly Johnson, and John Foster). The other seven big league call-ups were Kyle Davies, Colon, Andy Marte, Frank Brooks, Matt Childers, Seth Greisinger, and Brayan Pena. The Braves have made 92 roster moves this season and lost 254 man-games to the disabled list. Five of the Braves promoted to Atlanta had no previous major league experience (McBride, Davies, Johnson, Marte, and Pena). The Braves have used a total of 46 players this season.

THE NUMBER CRUNCH: The Braves are tied for third place with Charlotte. The last time they were in third place was 7/3. The Braves are 7-3 since the All Star Break. Richmond has scored 55 runs in their last ten games. Esix Snead leads the IL in stolen bases. Snead has reached base in 17 straight games. Recent R-Braves acquisition Kerry Robinson still leads the PCL in steals with 26. Scott Pratt is 13 for his last 26 (.500). Brayan Pena has hits in nine straight games (13-33 .393). The longest hitting streak of the season is 10, held by John Barnes. James Jurries has a hit in 11 of his last 12 games (16-45 .356 3HR 12 RBI) including a five game hitting streak (6-18 .333).
