River Rats Sign Tallackson

Albany N.Y. - The Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League today announced the signing of right wing Barry Tallackson.

Tallackson, 22, completed his senior year at the University of Minnesota with 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points in 36 games played during the 2004-05 season. The Golden Gophers were recently eliminated from the NCAA Frozen Four semifinals by the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux.

The 6-4, 210-pounder was drafted by the New Jersey Devils with their second choice (53rd overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and played the last four seasons in the Twin Cities. He was a member of one of the most successful senior classes in school history winning two NCAA championships, two WCHA final five crowns, reaching four consecutive NCAA tournaments and three Frozen Fours.

The River Rats close out the 2004-05 regular season with four games in five nights this week. Albany hosts the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in a 7:00 p.m. face-off at Pepsi Arena on Wednesday before visiting the Hartford Wolf*Pack on Friday night in a 7:05 p.m. contest. The River Rats host their final home game on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. against the Philadelphia Phantoms and will close the regular season against the Lowell Lock Monsters on Sunday afternoon at 5:05 p.m.

The Albany River Rats, in their 12th season as a member of the American Hockey League, are owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., and serve as the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils.
