Banga named Oakley C.H.L. Player of the Week

SOUTHAVEN--- The Central Hockey League announced on Monday that Memphis RiverKings rookie Travis Banga has been named the Oakley C.H.L. Player of the Week. In the three RiverKings' wins last week, Banga played a key role in each win collecting a total of four goals and five assists for the week.

He scored and added an assist in a 5-1 win at San Angelo on February 1st, registered two assists in a 6-4 win in Austin on February 4th and then exploded for a hat-trick and two more assists in a 6-4 win at Odessa the following night. His three outings give him a total of 10 multiple point games this season, including four in his last six contests. He has also registered at least one point (a goal or an assist) in 22 of his 25 games played and he has at least a point in his last nine games. In those nine games, Banga has 11 goals and 10 assists and in the process has become the RiverKings' fourth leading scorer with 38 points in 25 games. He is the third leading rookie scorer in the C.H.L. trailing teammate Phil Aucoin by 16 points and leads all rookies with an average of 1.52 points per game. Memphis signed Banga off waivers on December 1.

Lubbock's Lance Leslie is the Oakley C.H.L. Goaltender of the Week after going 3-0-0 and giving up only four goals in those three games.
